lots done lastnight/today!!! [01 Mar 2007|08:47pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]

well lastnight i took my dress over to Britt's mum's house...it was so great!  She had it all set up like a professional seamstress.  She's all "I dont do bridal dresses if you know what i mean..." (BRIDEZILLAS!!!) "but since you are Brittnay's friend, Im happy to!"  And man do i look good in it, and she put me in it perfectly (its kinda difficult to get in NOT possible alone).  Lauren and I are going over there hopefully next Tues to finish that up.

Today we went to Walmart and Michaels with Myles--he has had a snotty nose for two days and hasn't been wanting to nap for 2 days now...but he was in a great mood!  And was the perfect baby.  Anyway, @ Michaels we found an archway for $30, its HUGE and its prelit with white lights!!!  it costs at lease double if not triple that to rent them.  We also got more ideas and pricing for deco and flowers and whatnot.  I still have to get quotes on the tables and chair rentals& i think i might splurge for linens too.  :)

All the invitations i have addresses for are stamped and sent out!  Still have to get lots of familia addys...i feel bad cause i didnt give enough advance notice for a lot of out of towners...but i am pretty sure all our parents will be there. Made an appointment with the eye doc today to get some contacts.

Had some great luch at an asian grill, and cleaned around the house some too :)

invitations & more... [27 Feb 2007|08:04pm]
[ mood | satisfied ]

they are finally done!!!! im so mad, i wanted them out a month ago but with work and the move and all...it just wasn't very viable.  but we just got them dropped off, they look AWESOME and they were free cause our good friend works at kinkos...we will be folding and addressing the majority of them at the laundromat tonight, and hopefully i can get them out tomorrow.

i am trying to get in contact with my auntie to see if my little twin cousins (5 yrs old, adopted from china) want to be our flower girls.  Myles of course will be the ring bearer.  Our groomsmen and bridesmaids have all been contacted and have all been incredibly helpful so far with plans and ideas...dont know how i could do it w/o you guys!   I have SOME decorations...hopefully getting my dress done this week and my sis and i are goin out on thursday to find centerpieces for the tables i am renting next week when we have some moolah.  like i said, i have already gotten $20 worth of decorations (which is more than you may think!  thanks to V-day sale @ michaels'), and i have plans for champagne and cake...i got some shoes for $10 yesterday ($60 value--score!)...we've got some great DJs linesd up and a sound system in order...

i still need to find out whats going on with Soloman (wanted him to DJ an hour or so for the reception), meet up with Diosa and discuss vows...officially rent tables and chairs, officially get my dress altered, officially purchase centerpieces, SEND OUT THE DAMN INVITES...

things are actually comming together...its like a week ago i felt so unorganized, and today i feel like things are actually comming together...

THANKS TO EVERYONE for the ideas and support...KEEP IT COMMIN!!

invitations... [23 Jan 2007|11:28pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]

they are DONE!!!! well, as far as the design goes.  we want to keep it a suprise so i'm not going to post it up in here.  BUT i will say that Steve helped alot, they look WONDERFUL and UNIQUE!!!  now i just have to get to the paper store and pick out some bitchin paper for them.  we get to print them up free at steves work...and i cant forget that i need envelopes too...hmmm...i'm going to skip out on rsvp cards and just have the guests reply by phone or email.  lauren will be compiling the guest list for me and also anything to do with the potluck side, she will organize.

i still need to get everyones address (BOY THAT'S GONNA BE FUN!!!) and word and type up my insert.  lets see....

Greetings Friends & Family!

We are looking forward to celebrating our special day with you.  Since this is most important to us, our ceremony and reception are going to be dressy-casual.  There will be light appetizers & champagne, and we would love for you to contribute to our old fashioned, potluck-style reception.  This means you are welcome to bring your own drinks, and if you are interested in bringing appetizers, please mention so when you RSVP.  Basically, we just want to have a good time with the people who mean the most to us.  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Steve and Vanessa

we are not including anything about the registry...i will just let those who wish to get our gifts ask my sister where we are registered when they RSVP.  or ask us, of course!  we figure thats the least tacky way of doing it???

Invitations [11 Jan 2007|10:30am]
[ mood | busy ]

well i guess thats a good place to get started.  my graphic designer friend donna told me of a WONDERFUL paper store in Tempe that i want to check out, and i am going to just design them myself in something simple like word.  steve can print them up at work.  i'm trying to decide what to say.  i like my original thing, but i want to get specific about the casual nature, decide what we will be providing and let people know they are welcome to bring their own booze and also request for anyone thats interested and might want to bring an appetizer for 100 people, lmao.  but seriously i was thinking if people wanted to do that instead of get us a gift, that would be cool right?  i dont even think i'm going to register.  just mention something about booze or food for the party as a gift, or the guest is welcome to their own creativity.  like "gifts are not required but appreciated.  we would love donations of food or drink for the reception (please mention ideas with RSVP), and you are welcome to your own creativity."

sound ok?  any ideas there are good.  so i guess the next steps are:

-get in contact with Britt's mom (danie can you help me out with that?) in regards to getting my dress altered
-research casual ceremony ideas
-decide what we want to do for our vows
-meet with Diosa and discuss ceremony ideas (she is our officiant)
-find table and chair rentals, along with frontpieces (like an arch with vines or something)

i think thats a pretty good to-do list for the next few months...once we get moved in and stuff, i will also start thinking about decorations.  FYI my wedidng party is welcome to wear what they want, being the women are in nice dresses and the men are in coat and tie.  sound reasonalbe?

any ideas or whatnot are again, ALWAYS WELCOME!!! thanks everyone :)

things are happenin... [27 Dec 2006|11:06pm]
[ mood | excited ]

so!  just found out my best friend from LA (we have been BFFs since 3rd grade) is totally renewing her harp skills and will play cannon in D by pachabell, my fave classical song of evar.  plus we have a photographer that we are going to fly out...a good friend of steves...  merrickalesphotography.com  and we have the most wonderful bridesmaids and groomsmen..

my immediate call for actions are as follows:

-finding paper for invitations (we can print them up at steve's work)
-making sure we have dj equipment
-bartenders (probably two--to work for free plus tips (which knowing our friends will be a great deal!!!)
-dress alteration:  im scared of this cause i need my dress shortened and taken in around the chest...i know it will be at least $100 if not 2...)
-harp rental (for my girl)
-insert for invitations...explaining byob and food, although we willl provide some of each of course...the fact of the matter is, we plan on seieng about 100 peeps, so it would be nice to have some help with that!!
-decorations
-thank you gifts

so here's where i need all of you lovelies!! any help, experience or ideas are welcome right here...steve thinks im a little silly and being too formal, but i promise you this shindig is giung to be waaaay more casual than im making it sound!!! so thanks, and tata for now ;)

invites and junk [11 Dec 2006|02:15pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

well, i guess thats a good place to start huh? :) i cant officially order them until after the holidays, but i was thinking about wording...not to spoil it but just wondering what you thought so far... i also need to figure out how to include in the RSVP cards that we would like everyone to bring some food and drink without being tacky!!! i imagine we will get some champagne, definately...maybe a keg and a real basic bar setup?  i think we can do this for 2gs or so...and i figure we have over $1000 tied up in deposits for this place and utilities...when we move we will hopefully get most of that back, and i can start with that...so far i think i can do 100 invites, envelopes, rsvp cards and all for about $75...anyone have any tips on that?  should i do it online?  in town?  print my own?  just wondering if anyone has any experience or input with this...anyway...here is the wording i have so far...kinda generic but i think its fitting :)  oh yeah and if there are any english pro's out there, let me know if i screwed anything up!

SAVE THE DATE!!!!
post comment

I think I have some plans...FOR REAL this time [11 Dec 2006|10:16am]
[ mood | busy ]

...so i've been thinking...why not get married and have a small reception at The Compound? maybe around v-day...now i will definately have money to get that dress altered and i should have some contacts by then, it will be perfect. i guess it couldnt be that big, but since we weren't planning on much of a ceremony at all, i think it sounds great! it could be potluck and everyone bring some sort of appetizer or one dish thing. we could have a DJ set up by the pool for the reception and have floating candles and tealights in the pool. decorating that place would be fun, there is that huge parking lot that maybe we could do the ceremony in (i know weird! but it would be a cinch to set up chairs, an aisle and a little awning out there)...and we could relase a bunch of white trader joes balloons that we give the kiddies, instead of doves or butterflies...spend a litlte money on flowers, deco, dress alterations, a suit or tux for steve?...and set-up...i think its pretty doable...we could probably do 50-100 people. maybe even wait until springtime for more planning and saving time...oh i am excited now!!!!

here is a link to pics of the place btw:
http://www.cyborgcow.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=618

we will actually be living there sometime in january...so it will be our home too...is that weird? throwing our wedding at our own place? its so doable though 4,500 square feet!!!!

anyway, whaddaya think? got any deco ideas or whatnot? is it going to be too crazy and stressful? i really wanna have a party for my wedidng...since i've been thinking aobut it...

hi, remember us? [09 Aug 2006|09:55pm]
[ mood | tired ]

yes, we are still getting married. yes, our original date is over 6 months, come and gone. yes, our plans have completely changed.

no, we don't have any money to do it right now.

i figure we'll elope. still got a dress. here are some ideas i had:

Mexico (Rocky Point, Cabo)
San Diego
San Fransisco
Yellowstone
Hawaii
U.S. Virgin Islands
Oregon Coast

it will probably be just the two of us, and anyone who wants to join us for a vacation. and no, we probably wont take our beautiful son. or should we? I dunno.

thoughts? comments? suggestions?

***edit: i just realized this sounds much like my last entry, made over a year ago! wow. :p

wedding attire [22 Jun 2005|10:29am]
[ mood | OMG excited!!!! ]

♥ MY DRESS CAME TODAY!!!! ♥

well, my potential dress anyway...y'all know we're on a very limited budget and my good friend Megan who just got married almost a year ago sent me her dress...hmm i wish i could post a pic of it, but that would spoil the fun anyway, dontcha think?  I havent tried it on yet...it has one of those lace-up-in-back tops that you cant breathe in if its too tight (what do they call those? boustiea?) and is strapless and long, but not too poofy.  I might get a petticoat for it (she didnt wear one) and if its ok with her i might see if Tiffe can do some removable alterations that won't damage the dress, ya know just to make it different.  Im definately gonna have to get it shortened a bit, but as far as alterations, that's probably it...*crossses fingers*

I haven't even opened it yet...i don't want  Steve to see it, of course...which might be kinda hard since we live together...hopefully when Tatyana gets home today, she will help me try it on....OMG so excited so excited...

It was really funny when the box came today i was like wtf is this gigantic thing???  it took me a minute to remember that she was sending me the dress...LOL come to think of it, i didn't even check the sender...hehe wouldnt that be funny if its something completely different!?!?!?  hmmm well i'm pretty sure thats what it is anyway :p

wow this is all becoming so realistic...

i've been doing some more planning too...i was just listening to the remix that PRG and Messanger Did of "Promise" (the old 80s song...i think i really want to play that at our wedding.  shoot i'd dance to it :)

anyway, more wedding updates to come over the summer months, where i really have to do the majority of my planning...i'm trying to "visualize" what i want it to be like...

oh, anyway!~  we've both been working pretty hard at our summer jobs and DJing a lot lately, too.

Eloping vs. Traditional Ceremony? [28 Mar 2005|04:35pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]
[ music | lounge radio ]

...so yeah ive been doing all this planning...but after telling my dad & family about it...my godmother said..."LOOK UP THE 'E' WORD...ELOPE!" and i think she has such a great point...forget all the expensive bullshit about planning a gigantic ceremony and everything...we could save mad money this way...maybe just by doing a little destination wedding or funk it just go to vegas...

i dunno tho...i've brought this up to steve before and he thinks i might regret not getting to walk down the aisle in a traditional dress with the traditional wedding party etc etc...but am i really that traditional? are WE really that traditional? and i think it would be hard for me, i want my family to see me get married and throw a big party for them to celebrate our union...

i also talked to my stepsister...she had a beautiful but relatively quaint wedding at the radisson in scottsdale...and u know how much that cost???

TEN. THOUSAND. DOLLARS.

i mean ouch, thats half of what i made last year (including financial aid loans)...and we dont plan on getting a lot of outside help but...we COULD save a lot of money...and it IS all about US, not about our family or friends, althoguh it means so much to me to have them there...but god i wouldnt have to pay for invitations or expensive dresses/tuxes...none of that junk. It's not about having a big wedding and fancy flowers and big buffet tables...its about US! me, him, we, us...

so its very likely that we might just take off on the weekend of February 4, 2006 and save our asses the money. i dunno...what do you think?

I love jaimesons idea of flipflops by the beach...which brings me to another ?...if you get married out of the country and have a license in the country...is it still valid here? hmm...

maybe we'll just go to santa barbara...i love it there...or san fran, our first vacation together, or geez maybe just take off to sedona...

hmmm...any comments, suggestions, opinions? those of you who know me well, do you really think i'd regret eloping? the finacial appeal of it is just overwhelming me right now...

We want to live here:

thsi city is beautiful... its called *~*VANCOUVER*~*

Things we love about it....

The scenery is beautiful, its laid back...GREAT dance music scene and plenty of terrain for all of the outdoor activities we love!  Not to mention the people are cool as hell (i <3 canadians--want to be one someday!--i was born really really close! <chicago>)...AND my favorite cigarette is virtually legal there as well...

After school...someday!!!

Question:  Where do YOU want YOUR final destination home to be?
